Life Change – Part 2
16 Mar
Back in December Lindsey and I decided to move back down to London – work agreed this was ok to do, so I made the move in January.
Since then, I haven’t been happy with the company I work for (One.Tel). They decided to ship all their call staff jobs off to India, giving people shit redundancy packages and then announcing they were going to spend 3m doing up the office. Add that to my unfriendly boss and I made the decision to start applying for some jobs.
As luck may have it, one of the jobs advertised wanted to see me, and liked me so much that a second interview was arranged for last weekend. It went well, and on Monday morning I was offered the chance to join the company on a full term basis. I took it – the pay is reasonable, the job itself will be fulfilling and so far it seems like the company have a lot more decency than One.Tel.
So here goes my change of life – I’ve been at One.Tel for 5 years, they have helped me progress though the ranks and at first it was an excellent company to work for – I have a comfort zone and by moving on I will destroy this. I handed in my notice this morning – whilst I didn’t expect them to try and stop me, they were generally uninterested in my decision – I wasn’t asked where I was going or the reasons behind my decision. I guess that just makes it easier for me.
So here we go – April 13th 2005 will be my last day here and then my life will change significantly – I’m going to try and enjoy the ride as much as I can.
