Community Choice A4UAwards Selection…
The short list is out for the A4UAwards Community Choice and there are a couple of interesting ones that stuck out for me. You can see the full list on the a4uawards site.
Publisher (affiliate) of 2008
• Click Angel
• Net Media Planet
• Quidco
• Spear
• UK Web Media
• eConversions
No chance of playing a spot the content affiliate here.. I have nothing against PPC affiliates at all but I did find it very interesting that these were the choices. I guess it’s a funny one to vote for; most of the community that vote are affiliates and would find it hard to work out who to vote for - would be interesting to see a vote count for these. With that being said - congratulations to each of the affiliates that made the list.
Publisher’s Choice Of Network 2008
• Affiliate Future
• Affiliate Window
• Buy.at
• OMG
• Paid On Results
• Webgains
Should not be suprised that there is no CJ in there, but no TD is very interesting indeed.
Good luck to everyone who made the list!

Of course there wont be a content publisher. They are too busy building their sites and working on them to make a living. The others are all mates of Matts. Look at the nominations for blog of the year - its the fucking same every year. All Matts mates and a triumph of nepotism. For me as a newish affiliate Affi Liate has done more to help affiliates this year than anyone, but he wont get a vote cos he aint in the inner ring. How many of the nominees went on Matt stag do. It stinks
Matt Woods company nominated again for agency of the year… night as well skip the awards and just buy yourself some trinkets Matt
Mate - are you sure that there are no content sites here? 100% sure?
Was in two minds about actually allowing two of the above comments, as I don’t agree with them at all (especially the comment about Matt’s stag do).. but we live in a democratic world and I only tend to apply moderation to spam!
.
Kieron - I guess it depends on what you classify as a content based affiliate! You are of course right and I was talking more about the main business model, which historically for most all but Quidco is paid search, but obviously to use Jamie/UKWB as an example they have a cashback site (giveortake) and a number of other properties. Econversions have thisislocal and so on so forth..
.
Not really a criticism of them at all and I think that Jason summed it up quite well on the forum by saying that merchants are more likely to vote for paid search affiliates as they tend to drive more sales across a wider variety of programs.
.
Still think that TD not being included is the biggest shock for me!
Princess - You sound angry, and a little bit bitter. I’m sorry to hear that, I hope that your comments have helped to get it off your chest. To answer your question, out of the 5 nominees for “Affiliate Blog” of 2008, 1 went to Matt’s stag do. Does that help you?
Princess and Rathergood - All members of A4U were invited to take part in the voting sessions for these awards so if somebody was or wasn’t nominated then it was because A4U members either voted or didn’t vote for them. It’s that simple really. Not rocket science and not some conspiracy theory brought about by Matt and his team bent on world domination.
James - Unfortunately I wasn’t shocked to see TD left out of the nominations. I think they’re rather lost their way and most deifinitly their presence at grass roots level in the affiliate community over the last year.
Hey James.
Just to let you know that affiliates4u members who’s member type was set to affiliates were not able to vote for publisher of the year! You’re right, I wouldn’t know who to vote for either.
Here’s hoping City get an away win at Palace on Saturday
[…] One thing the A4UAwards throws up each year is a bit of discontent and discussion regarding the nominations (actually it’s throws up discontent and discussion about the type of awards, the voting process, the nominations, the winners etc etc so should it’s not really a surprise). There are one or two surprises in each category though but it’s the Publisher of the Year award that has sparked the most amount of debate on Affiliates4U and on various blogs including Moose on the Loose and 3WDL.
